Honoring the Dwarpinas of the Flowers and Waters
This is the Banana Pool at Holy Paradise, one of the places where, according to the tradition passed on to me by my spiritual teacher Ate TC, we believe nature spirits we call dwarpinas dwell.
Recently, Ate TC and I performed a ritual here to commemorate and honor them.
In her tradition, the dwarpinas are nature spirits associated with the natural world, including the flowers and waters. Their appearance and attire are seen through spiritual visions and dreams. The ceremonial clothing Ate TC is wearing here reflects how these beings have appeared within her tradition.
Being her student has allowed me to learn not only healing practices, prayers, and rituals, but also a way of relating to nature that recognizes something sacred within it.
Whether we understand these beings spiritually, culturally, or symbolically, I think there is something beautiful in approaching the forests, springs, plants, and waters around us with respect and reverence.
And here at the Banana Pool, surrounded by flowing spring water and forest, it isn’t difficult to understand why traditions like these emerged.
